Many strange things in this village

Rockhammar forest
2003 - 2025

My husband is from Sweden, and I'm from the US. We travel to Sweden at least once a year to visit family. My husband's mother is from Rockhammar, and she has a summerhouse there, so we usually end up spending a good deal of time in Rockhammar: walking in the forest, grilling, resting and swimming in the community pool. Well, I'm from New Orleans, and there is a lot of "liminal" activity that goes on here, and we are raised to see things and interact with oddities that other people don't notice. I will try to post some things about New Orleans as well, but , right now, Rockhammar is on my mind because we will soon travel again to Sweden. So this village has a lot of liminal activity too. Mostly it comes in dreams. I dream very vividly when I'm sleeping in the summerhouse. I'm normally a vivid dreamer, but these are so real that I struggle sometimes to shake myself out of dreams for days. I walk around not knowing if things are real or if I am dreaming them. And I annoy my husband with questions like: "Is this really happening? Or, am I still dreaming?" He's used to it. If I told you I’ve seen many magical things here, would you believe me? In the forest, there is a rock we sit on and look out onto the lake and meditate. You can see the whole distance across. It was winter, and the lake was frozen. An old man with white hair had appeared and walked towards me. He was wearing snowshoes and a heavy wool sweater but no coat. No hat. As the man had come closer, he did not acknowledged me. It was as if he did not see me at all. He passed about ten feet to the left, and, as I whipped my head around to follow him, he turned into a crow with a red breast and flew away. Another time, I saw a Reindeer three meters tall. Once there was a freaking elf who demanded a blood sacrifice. And the time I stepped onto the frozen lake, and the world turned upside down. Disbelieve if you must, but I still have a scar from that freaking elf. They are not nice and noble like the movies say. They are vicious little creatures who should be avoided.
