The Bridge

I was going for a nature walk around a small trail near my house alone in the late afternoon. I had been on this trail many times, and it is a short walk in a small woods that is cut off by a small stream. I even lived right next to the woods as a child, and played there as a toddler. Anyway, I was walking the usual rout but noticed a small, well walked path that I had never seen before. I decided to follow it, out of curiosity, and found that it lead me through a thicker part of the woods, and seemed to go on for hours, with the occasional twist or turn. After a few hours of debating whether I should turn back, I came to a halt in front of what seemed to be a bridge, in the middle of a forest with no water running under it. That in itself is not very unusual, but what was was the graffiti on the bridge- child's drawings of tall and thin creatures with huge black eyes and colorful bodies. They covered the bridge, outside and inside, and I suddenly felt intensly uncomfortable and like someone was watching me. I turned around, and ran back the way I had come, and almost immediately ran into a teenage girl, looking harrowing but smiling. She asked me why I was there, and I told her I was going for a walk, but she kept pushing for specifics of how I found the place. I politely ended the conversation and walked away as fast as I could, and after a few hours got home, but I couldn't shake the feeling of unease for days afterwards.
