Blueridge Apartments
2014

Wheaton is a tiny town where I grew up. On Thanksgiving Day 2012, a fire took place here that claimed the lives of 5 people. It was a town tragedy. The apartments are split into 2 buildings, one completely burned down and was rebuilt quickly. In 2014, my father moved into the building that had not been rebuilt. I would stay with him every other week. Things just seemed off at first: objects seemed to move, footsteps, things that weren't too uncommon for apartment buildings. Then, one night everything would start to seem more sinister. I slept that night in a recliner in the living room. I had woken up around midnight and was messing around on my phone when I heard a light thud. At first, I didn't think anything of it until it happened again and sounded closer this time. Being 14 at the time, I thought it was my dad coming into the living room from his bedroom, so I hid my phone and tried to lay still. Footsteps started lightly at first and seemed to get closer, so I laid still. After a few moments of quiet, I opened my eyes and turned around slowly, expecting him to be standing close, but there was no one in the hallway. I started to get a little scared and was too scared to move. I just sat motionless until the footsteps boomed down the hallway. This time sounding as if they were running hard and fast. I closed my eyes, bracing myself for whatever was running at me, but it was quiet again. When I finally opened my eyes, I looked at the television to try to see a reflection behind the chair, but there was no one. Before I could even think of what to do next, it happened again. The running footsteps came loudly, this time with it hitting the back of the chair. I can still feel the hit, and how it felt like a full body hitting the chair. The hit was so hard, that the chair went so far forward, that it almost flipped. Once it fell back to the ground, it was completely quiet. I sat for a second terrified before I ran to wake my dad up. That was the only major thing that happened when I was a child, everything else was small ghostly activity. When I was 19, I moved back into these apartments. As I said, it is a very small town, and this was the only place for rent. My apartment was next to where my dad's was. After I moved back in, I noticed the minor paranormal activity again, it wasn't too bad. A month after I moved in, I had made a sign with velcro stickers. I watched the entity pull them off. Some of them were slow like they were struggling, and some were quick. The only real major thing that happened was after I had lived there for a few months. My little sister was staying with me, and she was sleeping in my room because the apartment freaked her out. She was in her bed and I was in mine. A drawer from my dresser flew out and landed on the ground in one swift movement. I just laid silently, because I didn't want to freak her out more. I was hoping she was asleep, but I was wrong when she turned and looked at me, absolutely terrified.
