The Grave With A Growing Chain
10/2021

When the weather gets cool and the nights get foggy, whispers of the Grave with a Growing Chain come up. According to local legend, one grave at Bond's Chapel Cemetery holds an engraving of a chain...that gains a link every year. Folks of all ages flock to this site (when feeling extra brave) to get a chance at witnessing the new link appear! The root of this legend varies in who you ask; some blame the phenomenon on the weather, while others are determined that a local murder involving a chain tainted this stone (note: the owner of the grave died of tuberculosis, has no relation to the murder). Whatever the cause, exploring this site late at night made living in this rural area a little more thrilling.

Zig Zag UFO
11/2020

Crystal clear night, watching satellites and the space station in the sky. Then I saw a light, roughly at same perceived altitude as satellites. But this light was moving erratically, going fast then slow, and traveling in a zig zag motion, not in a straight line. I followed it about half a head turn and then I lost it or it vanished. I'm confident it was not a satellite or the ISS. Nothing wild, but I'm happy to have seen it.

Tank Range Bigfoot
01/2007

Pretty sure I saw a bigfoot off route 144 on the tank range complex at ft Stewart, myself and 6 others were on the range as an advance party and at around 2am I saw a large bipedal something er other walk out of the swamp, cross the raised maintenance pad and then go back into the swamp at the other side. Everyone else was asleep and I don't see why I random person would be wading through the swamp in the middle of the night on a restricted US Army range complex.

Lincoln Park Weirdness
07/2021

Walking into Lincoln park from the northwest corner of the park I went with 2 other friends to skateboard. I smelt a strong methane gas, which no one had I found out afterwards! I sat on the picnic table waiting for people to think so I can climb into the trees right there to pee The lat, and long I gave. After I peed I went to climb out by going up towards the trail since I had shorts on all of a sudden it got very dark and very quiet so dark I couldn't see the water or more then a foot in front of me , after 10 minutes I yelled how do I get out of here! I heard a reply a woman's voice which said we can't tell you! Which really pissed me off so I start yelling my friends that went with me their names while also going east and south. Then i hear a loud charging sound heading towards me not charging from the ground but from tree to tree I look to my right see what appears to be an outlining of 4 people I toss the last of my water towards them and still hear bye charging meanwhile fireworks are going off and my friends where yelling at the entrance area I'm not hearing anything I've been in the dark grabbing branches not there getting cut up this large sounding mystery thing is charging at me it's been 1.5 hours plus I decided to hurt myself at where the charging noise is coming from and going Southeast I should have been way out of lincoln park, and yet, I finish my tumble at the very beginning where I went up to go and pee! I walk back to my car with one shoe missing cuts all over as soon as im close enough i drop to the ground not able to drive or do anything not understanding or knowing how to explain by any means , the female friend and her boyfriend said they both looked up at the woods and then where like no that seens creepy way creepy tonight I drink 7 bottle waters 2 gaterades a slurpee and eat several popcycles , and I hear weird and see weird things when I get by woods and the dak street lights keep the woods and me distant, sometimes I go in the woods knifes out sledge hammer ready!! And the most bizarre is I do not believe in supernatural, ghost, hauntings or that kind of thing I just can't make sense of this, is there anything you might know or anyway I can understand this?

Haven 64
09/2016

I was in 6th grade when I had a dream that I've always just called 'Haven 64', The dream started with me and my family going into a hotel called Haven 64. The lobby had like a golden light everywhere, there was a huge chandelier in the ceiling. My parents went to the desk to check in, and I noticed that there was a hallway. I started to go down it. It was long and dark and skinny, there were a bunch of doors on each side of the wall, all boarded up. Eventually I reached the end of the hallway. The last door at the end of the hallway was on the left side, and it was cracked open. Light was coming out of it. I opened the door, and on the floor I saw almost all of my friends sitting on the floor, playing cards. They looked up at me and I saw that they were skeletons. A door appeared at the very end wall of the hallway and I ran out of it, my skeleton friends chasing me. I was running outside, down a block in what looked like a stereotypical suburban middle class neighborhood. Everything had that same kind of goldenish tint to it that it did in the lobby of the hotel. Suddenly my best friend, who wasn't a skeleton and also wasn't in the group I saw playing cards appeared next to me like they had been running with me the whole time. They told me to run and to save myself, so I did. I turned the corner, and I saw a father and son playing catch. They turned to me, their faces were skeletons too, and that's when I woke up. The next day at school I told my best friend about the dream, and they told me that they had the same dream, except for that they were in my place, and I was the one who told them to run and save themself. I've fallen out of contact with my friend, but I've always tried to do research about Haven 64, and to see if it's a real hotel or place or if anyone else has had this dream. I've found nothing of interest, other than that there's a graveyard called Haven 64 in the Netherlands.

Semi-human Figure
07/2021

My father rides his bike around the neighborhood every day usually around 6-8PM in the summer. Well, on this particular day he had left at 8 and it had gotten dark faster. Around my house there are street lights, but up the road in the less residential areas, there are no street lights and it becomes pitch black at night. My father has a head lamp he takes with him just in case and today it was useful. He rode down the road to the part where there were no streetlights, just his little lamp and saw a figure. He described it as tall, 8-10 feet tall at least. It was white,, possibly hairy, and looked semi human. When he got about 15 feet away, it ran into a ditch. One key point my dad noticed was that it reflected his light and it was silent when it ran. But, my dad at that point had been scared sh*tless so he turned around and pedaled home. After he returned home, he told us about what he had seen. My mom and I got into the car and drove to the spot he saw the figure. We didn't see anything at first, but when we turned around my mom and I saw it running away from our car and back to the ditch. Both my parents thought it was a bigfoot type creature at first, but we figured it was most likely a ghost since it was silent when it moved.

Thrift Store UFO
07/2020

We were out randonauting at about 10:30pm-11pm one night, and we ended up following coordinates to the parking lot of this thrift store. The exact coordinates took us to the side of the building where there are loading docks for trucks. We parked the car, got out, and walked to the exact spot where the coordinates said we should be. Nothing felt particularly strange, so I looked at him and asked, "So what now?" He replied, "I don't know," so we stood there, staring at the sky. It was a clear night, so you could see the stars, just about as many as you would expect to see in a city. We were only there for about 4 or 5 minutes when out of the right side of my vision I saw a super bright light in the sky. The light looked to be the shape of a four pointed star, like the classic depictions of what the North Star is supposed to look like. And when I say bright, I mean this thing looked LED. The light was moving across the sky from right to left, and relatively quickly, but smoothly. Nothing like a satellite or a plane, it didn't have any other blinking lights to it and it made no sound at all. I didn't look away from it. Out loud I said, "Is that a-" and as soon as the words left my mouth, the light stopped in its tracks and just hovered right above us. Again, without looking away I said, "It's a UFO," and the light blinked once as if confirming my belief. Then the light started drifting to the left again, blinked three times, and then vanished on the fourth blink as if it had never existed. I let go of my breath that I didn't realize I had been holding. A weird calm and quiet washed over us. I finally looked away from the sky over to him and said, "We just saw a UFO." He looked back at me and said, "Yes we did."

Farrenburg Lights
10/2021

The Farrenburg Lights are a strange light phenomena witnessed by many in the local communities since the late 1800s. Strange blue and green tennis ball sized lights can be seen travelling quickly in and out of the trees along a field road. Teens frequently drive out to watch from a distance. Vehicles brave enough to approach have been darted at, followed, and felt vibrations strong enough to be mistaken for an earthquake. The vibrations are thought to be emanating directly from the balls of light and only seem to affect that particular vehicle. There seems to be no pattern or reasoning to their appearances; they simply appear some nights and not on others. Some attribute it to marsh gases, as there is a rather large fault line in the area that travels adjacent to the Mississippi River. A professor at Southeast Missouri State University launched a research program in the 1970s that linked this light phenomena with a UFO crash that occurred nearby in the 40s. His findings suggested that the lights may be alien in nature and that alien encounters seem to sometimes be focused near fault lines, rivers, and military installations; all three of which were present within a short distance of the location.

Missing Day
05/2021

The park across the street from Stephen F Austin Middle School has some strange energies. This specific story (out of many instances I have had there) is about time loss. And a great deal of it. There is a park bench that is close to the neighboring church that I will never sit at again due to this. I had went there with somebody for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and we sat at this specific bench to eat. Once we were done, we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the weather, which we did. Mind you, we were there around a usual lunch time in the spring, around 1PM. We noticed the sun going down quicker than usual, and attributed this to be from us enjoying our time that we had just lost track of it. When the sun fully went down, we decided to leave and go back to a friend's house. Once we got there, they were relieved to see us. Apparently we had been gone for an entire 24 hours or more. I checked my phone to see that it was around 8PM on Monday, and I had missed school entirely. I had several missed calls from people, wondering where I was. To this day, nobody truly believes that we were just having lunch at this park bench and ended up being there for over 24 hours. We felt no sleep deprivation or anything that typically comes with being awake for that long. The confusion and disorientation from this even lasted quite a while, and thinking about it still gives me chills.

Salem Road Bridge
01/2022

The first time I encountered Salem Road Bridge was on a drive with my cousin in the summer of 1995. It was just a small bridge over a creek, but we suddenly found ourselves overcome with fear, as if something terrible would happen if we were to cross. We turned back instead. Later on, I learned that the spot was notorious for inspiring this sort of fear, and after asking around town found that many people had only been able to cross it after multiple tries. The place inspired rumors, as well, tales of ghosts, mysterious rituals and the like. After a friend and I finally gathered the courage to cross it in 2004, we found the place unnervingly silent, and that my friend's wristwatch as well as the clock in the car had stopped.

One day in 1989, my mother and I were driving down a country road when we saw a rustic shack with a sign saying "open." We went inside and found it filled with intricate figurines in the shape of elves and fairies. We looked around for the shopkeeper, but found no one at all, nor any sign of human habitation. We were so curious that we decided to come back when someone was in, but when we returned the next week, the building was not where we remembered it to be, and we were never able to find it again.

I have yet to see a caretaker(s), but have witnessed the occasional fellow Tiny Shrine Appreciater.

Birth of a Star
01/2005

It was a warm Summer night, the kind where you left your window open for the air to be breathable. For some reason I woke up and looked outside the window. In the distance I could see some lights near the river, it was too far and too dark to see clearly but I thought there was a few people lightning some fireworks. A firework did light up, it went straight to the sky without a sound and suddenly became idle. A bit of the sky that was dark just filled with a new star, maybe a bit brighter. I still remember it clearly to this day, it may have been a dream or an hallucination, but in some way I feel like I witnessed the birth of a star.

Full-body Apparition
09/2021

My friend and I loaded up a void point on Randonautica with the intention of seeing a 'ghost'. We pulled up to a stop sign near the high school and there was a car parked in front of us at the stop sign across from us which had been there for some time.. not moving for unknown reasons. We then both saw what looked like a walking apparition cross the front of the vehicles headlights (this is at night) but it never crossed the entire walkway. The apparition even blocked the light coming from the headlights. At first we thought maybe the car switched drivers.. but the cab lights never came on.. nor did we see any doors open during this event. The vehicle then turned and drive away slowly. After this event my skeptic friend asked if I had seen it. I said yes.. congratulations on seeing your first full body apparition. We didn't even make it to the void point because it was inaccessible and we weren't even filming yet. I feel like that was the event we/he was meant to experience.

Strangeness on the Iron Bear-Teanaway Ridge
06/2021

My husband and I were hiking the Iron Bear trail near Cle Elum, Washington. A section of this trail runs along a forested ridge in the shape of a U, such that you can see part of the trail across the way from where you stand. As my husband and I are finishing off the hike, we’re walking north on the trail, headed to the bend that will take us around the ridge. I tend to walk with my gaze locked on the trail near my feet to look for wildflowers, but I was struck with the urge to look across the ridge at the section of the trail we would be walking on once we crossed the bend. As I glanced at the trail in the distance, I was struck with a fancy of seeing doppelgängers of myself and my husband walking on the other trail. I thought the idea was funny, and decided to share the daydream with my husband. After hearing my story, he guffawed and said “I was imagining the same exact thing!” We both had the sense we may have experienced a whisper from the simulation.

Angry Lodge Ghost
11/2021

A man died in this year (2021) from a heart attack in lodge number 3. He was always angry and hated everyone as staff describes him. He likes to come out when its dark outside and hates the light. It could be a poltergeist bcs of how often it would move stuff even if youre in front of it. He likes to get attention by knocking or scratching on doors and floors or moving your chair and tugging on your blankets. Sometimes he even throws stuff. But he only does it when the lights are completely off in the cabin. If its not he does it outside and gets angry he cant come in. I dont have videos bcs I was rly scared. With good reason bcs of just how strong he was. I was his target while staying there and luckily it didnt follow me when I left. Also the man is described as a pitch black figure. He's the real deal(I'm really not kidding). You can even hear him walking at night. The floor is made of wood so it creaks. It actually sounds like he's bearfoot too. And also likes messing up showers by throwing the bottles and opening and closing the taps.

Went here with my husband to look for anything odd and strange, I heard this area could very well be haunted (it's old with original buildings from the 1800's) plus this area has the famous Whaley house that is haunted (we went but no spooks). I've seen spirits since I was little and I enjoy the thrill of "ghost hunting" type things so we went to this schoolhouse that is the first in the area back then and I start taking pictures, I watch a channel that made contact with a spirit there so I started using her name from that video (name is Lacy) and I invite anything to show up on my pictures if it wanted to. Well I got some pictures I can't explain and I believe it's her or another curious spirit peaking from behind a tress at us. We didn't see anything in person but when we looked at the pics we found a few that stood out.

Liminal Office
01/2011

I remember a place in my house that apparently never existed. it's a place that used to be behind the hallway wall. it was an all beige office, with 5 or 6 desks exactly the same color as the wall. it had a few cabinets and papers and typewriters, all the same shade of beige. I have a very strong memory of that place, the smell of a closed library, even my grandfather was there, sitting in one of the chairs on the left. however, it seems that office never actually existed. there was a room there, but it was much smaller and narrower. wasn't beige and had been closed off before I was born. I never admitted that was just my imagination, it's a very vivid memory, and I don't even have many childhood memories, so I decided to tell it here. a bonus: I've dreamed a few times with the 2nd floor of my house totally different from what it is. unfortunately it's very difficult to describe. the structure wasn't much different from the real one, but the colors were more vibrant (the only exact color I could remember was a kind of dark fluorescent blue) and the hallways were bigger. there were also a few creatures and various random objects, like oddly shaped vases and colorful rugs hanging on the walls, and the libraries had secret passages to nondescript places. the last time i dreamed about that was like 4 years ago. they were different dreams, but the place was basically the same.

Carter Caves State Resort Park

Myself and 6 friends (a coven at the time,) went here to look for something although we didn't know what. We were aware that where we were is very close to a crossing of a ley line, that's why we were there. What we doing expect was that 4 of us would simultaneously wake up having a panic attack at 4 in the morning. I would run across the hall, leaving my bedmate, to escort my friend into bed with us as the hallway was terrifying. It feel like a blizzard had hit the hallways even though it was March and relatively warm. The energy was so high and I just don't think any of us could comprehend it so our bodies were panicking as the only way it could. I grabbed the friend who was sitting up, shaking, and brought them quickly through the threshold where 3 of us sat, shaking for about an hour before the rest had woken up and joined us. We all braved the hallway together and went into the main room and made a circle of candles and sat in it holding hands. We meditated together, and practiced divination, and I wish I still had my book today to document the things we had seen and experience, but it's 200 miles away right now. Our dowsing rods and EMF detector were going insane and we sat together in this circle watching the world warp around us. Later on we experienced a separate, less vague phenomena in a cave, but I'll save that for the others to write. They'll know it when they read this. The feeling was like having 1000 batteries pumping energy into the room. Like a lightning strike. Everything was so high energy and the contrast was all the way up. At that moment we could have ruled the world.

Smoke Manifestation

I usually open the Bible drawer in every hotel I go into, always has been a habit of mine no idea why lol but, my mom and I got in our hotel room and got settled in, started relaxing after the drive and I was sitting on my bed and she was sitting on hers when I leaned over and opened the drawer as she watched, I only opened it a little when a tendril of smoke came out of it and she and I looked at each other super confused and she leaned over and opened it the rest of the way and more smoke came out and the Bible was just sitting there all my mom could smell was cigarettes and all I could smell was the hotel room, the thing is there's no possible explanation, it was just a normal bedside table, no USB ports or anything fancy just a normal table, if it were the housekeepers playing a prank the smoke would've disappeared in the time it took us to settle. I will always remember this experience.

Shiny Guy
01/2018

I frequently walk Lincoln Park with my dogs. I love the atmosphere, and the energies - woods and water/ocean all blend making it truly a liminal spot, and it's rare to NOT encounter some sort of being or spirit in my walks. Because I've been so often these places are familiar, and the encounters frequent. They aren't overt, indeed most are quite subtle. Earth and animal spirits abound there, but they are unlikely to be noticed by most. It does have it's darker regions. Areas where I've sensed heavy energies from - events, spirits, elementals. Again, these are subtle, but there. While most who aren't in tune to these energies might brush it off as a passing chill or just imagination, those who are sensitive will easily recognize these for what they are - beings and energies that carry elements of pain, or grief, or...? I did encounter one male spirit multiple times over the course of about a year. He declined to self-identify, but referred to me as "Shiny Girl" the times I encountered him, so in return I dubbed him "Shiny Guy" even though he was anything but when I first "met" him. He found the irony of it humorous. Over the course of a year I would run into Shiny Guy from time to time. Initially, he tried to be frightening. Then he tried taunting. It frustrated, then amused him that I was neither scared or reactive to his attempts. He would tell me he did "bad things" and that he stayed here because a lot them took place in those woods. He liked to relive the memories and he liked to scare people by projecting heavy energies like fear. The impression I got was that he'd been there since the 1980's or thereabouts. He wouldn't give me a date, like he wouldn't give his name. But he showed himself as he was back then. He was on the taller side, about 5'11", on the skinnier side. He usually presented as wearing a baggy white tank top, and baggy dark jeans. They sagged on a frame that had very little to it - his shoulder bones were visible and his hips nonexistent. His cheekbones were prominent because his cheeks looked hollow, with dark circles under dark eyes, and rough stubble on a thin, pointy chin. His hair dark and kind of thin and stringy. He did not look like he was very healthy in life. Eventually, he crossed over, and I've not encountered him for a couple years. I like to think he's moved on to better places. Lincoln Park remains one of my favorite places to this day. A truly magical place to reconnect with Earth.

The Ghost Barge of Ironbridge
01/1800

The ghost barge of Ironbridge is a frequently reported haunting. This ghostly vessel is frequently reported (one of my grandfathers was reputed to have seen it once, whilst walking home from the foundry he worked at) and is almost always a full apparition. It first appears not too far from the Ironbridge, and presents as a long, dark ship, but not largely different from any open topped boat. At its helm, a tall figure stands, often described as wearing old fashioned clothes, or a dark cloak. It sails slowly down the river, and as it gets closer, its cargo is revealed. The ghost barge is often witnessed from the Ironbridge- which gives you a great vantage point to see what it is carrying. It’s believed that on the barge, is row upon row of corpses, piled high. This is obviously a very macabre and shocking sight, but almost as soon as the corpses are noticed, the barge shimmers, and disappears from view. However, Ironbridge is not the only area the ghost barge is reported, for many have recounted similar instances down the river in Jackfield. Here there have been sightings of a ghostly barge tethered to the riverbed. Accompanying the boat is the bargeman from before, now stood on the riverbed- as if waiting, alongside rows of corpses. I believe these two hauntings are related, and we’ve simply re-joined the bargeman at the end of his journey. This apparition is believed to be a plague barge- transporting the dead to the mass graves that were in Jackfield.

Old Ned's Devil
01/1897

The Shropshire Man Monkey, or Old Ned’s Devil is a Cryptid zooform primate that has been sighted along the Shropshire Union Canal. This canal was built by Thomas Telford in 1828 and covers a wider area, and several canal systems including Shropshire, Staffordshire, Birmingham, and parts of Cheshire. Though not a specifically Shropshire phenomena (as he has been sighted on multiple occasions along the canal) he is well known in Shropshire. The most famous sighting occurred at 10pm on the evening of the 21st of January 1879 and was investigated by Folklorist Charlotte S. Burne. She recounted that just before the eyewitness reached the canal bridge, a strange, hairy black creature ‘with great white eyes’ sprang out of the plantation by the roadside and attached itself onto his horse’s back. In desperation he tried to push it off with his whip, but to his horror, the whip went through the creature, and he dropped it to the ground with fright. The horse then broke into a canter, and ran at full speed, with the creature still clinging to his back. The man returned to a village called Woodseaves and recounted his tale. With the listeners being so terrified that they stayed in the area rather than risking an encounter. The witness was so terrified by his encounter, that he took to his bed for several days afterwards. The canal was searched the next day, and the whip was found in the exact place he’d dropped it. Apparently, the police visited the witness a few days later, upon reports he’d been robbed. When he explained, in horror what he’d saw, the policeman was rather disappointed, and replied ‘Oh was that it sir? I know what that was. That was the Man Monkey, sir as does come again at that bridge ever since a man was drowned in the cut’ I’m sure the witness was very disheartened to know such an experience was a regular occurrence. A creature akin to the Man Monkey was also reported near the end of the 19th century by a man named Ned. Whilst driving a pony and trap on Rolfe Street in Smethwick, outside Birmingham, he heard a strange noise behind him, and was leapt at by an unusual-looking animal, which he fought off and killed with his horsewhip. The animal was placed on display in a glass case in the Blue Gate pub on Rolfe Street and was dubbed "Old Ned's Devil" by the locals. Old Ned’s devil was probably a separate creature to the one experienced in January 1879, as this was a creature of flesh and blood, and killed. However, it provides further discussion in the narrative of The Ape Man. Further Monkey man sightings have been reported since this instance, all with astonishing commonalities. The most recent one I could find was one reported in 2002 to British waterways. (now the canal and river trust) The man contacted the trust and said that during a holiday on the ‘shroppie’ in the 1980’s, he passed under a bridge and upon looking up saw ‘a huge, hairy black figure’ staring back at him with large eyes. He called for his family, however the creature disappeared.

The Shrieking Serpents of Shropshire
01/2017

In 2017 in an area called Whitchurch, two people bore witness to a real-life scene from Jurassic park. This incident is known as ‘The Screeching serpents of Shropshire’ and is the latest in a series of dinosaur sightings in Britain. (though not a classical cryptid, the reason why such creatures continue to be sighted is certainly unexplained) The witness claimed she was first alerted when she heard a strange ‘screech’ coming from outside. Rather disconcertedly, she noticed that not only was the screech unlike anything she’d heard before, but the noise was getting closer. When she looked outside, across the treeline she witnessed two ‘pterodactyls’ flying side by side and watched in horror until they were out of view, Her house was near a nature reserve, and she knew the local birds well, so she distinguished that these grey, leathery winged creatures were not birds, but something else. They appeared far bigger than anything she had seen before. The lady told her husband, who was sceptical, but kept the sighting to herself. A few days later, her 13-year-old son had been playing outside, when he witnessed similar phenomena, hearing screeching, and seeing large, leathery winged creatures. Whilst trying to help her son identify what he saw, she showed him a picture of a Pterodactyl, to which he confirmed this was the creature. This is certainly an impressive story, but it isn’t the only ‘pterosaur’ sighting occurring within Shropshire. Indeed, according to the website of Jonathan Whitcomb- Living Pterosaurs enthusiast’ a further sighting occurred in 2017 on the Silkin way in Telford. Here a man saw a ‘large, leathery creature’, with a wingspan of 4-6 feet glide past him whilst walking this route. Both sightings have commonalities and point to a creature far larger than a regular bird or bat, and both witnesses felt sufficiently concerned enough to contact Jonathan.

Steps leading to St Lukes Church
01/1930

My introduction to Shropshire Folklore began at a very young age, and it involved a family connection. This was the story of my grandfather's encounter with the Devil. Our story starts, like so many of my stories, in Ironbridge. It was Sunday, and my grandfather- a mere boy at this point - was on his way to church. However, this wasn’t like a regular Sunday. Laurence (his name before he was grandad, or even dad) had made a cunning plan. He didn’t like church all that much, and the long hours of sermons didn’t really appeal to him- so planned to change that. A few days before, he’d spoken to his cousins, and a friend, and told them what they were to do. He told them to bring a pack of cards, as well as other games and to watch for his lead. Sunday came, and whilst his mum and dad were talking to their friends and well-wishers. My grandad signalled his friends, and snook off. They snook out of the churchyard, down to the steep steps that descend down to the Ironbridge itself. They felt triumphant- and in very good spirits as they played their games, knowing fully well they should be in the church service. They played for a short while, without interruption, when all of a sudden it hit them. The atmosphere changed, it felt tight, oppressive. The boys fell silent- just breathing… This is when my grandad heard footsteps behind him, coming down those winding steps, and felt a cold hand on his shoulder. The Devil called him by his name. He never described the Devil to me, Though even as an old man his fear was palpable. ‘you shouldn’t be wasting your Sunday on silly games’ he would say, perhaps quoting that fateful meeting, where the Devil had told him if he continued such rebellion- to play cards and ignore the sabbath, he would ensure they met again.>

Lilleshall Abbey
01/1244

The Augustinian abbey of Lilleshall was founded in 1148 by a local landowner called Sir Richard de Blemeis. No expense was spared in its creation, and within 20 years a magnificent church of red sandstone around 228ft in length as well as impressive domestic buildings had been built. One of its most famous features is its processional doorway, which leads to the cloister. It is near the cloister that the ghost of the ‘Black Monk’ is seen. He is a recurrent apparition, and is said to be tall, middle aged and wearing the dark robes of the Augustinian order. One of the strangest things about this apparition is that this monk appears solid, with his feet on the ground as you or I, rather than being translucent. He appears kneeling with his head bowed, as if in prayer or contemplation. No sooner than you have seen this spectre, does he realise that you are there. He turns suddenly, lunging forward and asks directly ‘Have you found the secret?!?’ He stands for a moment or two, watching, trying to gage your reaction, then he disappears. There is a great deal of speculation regarding what this secret is. Some believe the phantom guards a fabulous treasure, which was hidden away from the hands of King Henry VIII’s men. Other stories suggest this ghost was at the centre of a Medieval murder, with the finger of suspicion being pointed to Henry III- a very proud and stubborn king. In 1244, the king was desperately short of money. Like many English Kings, he’d spent all his wealth on luxury living and wars with the French. Thus, he began trying to think of ways he could raise more money- so the king went to Lilleshall abbey on a ‘Hunting trip’. This shows the abbey was an important building- important enough to be on the royal itinerary and considered to have enough status to host the king. Though I am in no doubt hunting happened, this whole trip was just an excuse to pilfer some money from the local area. So, the king came to Lilleshall, and made an announcement. He informed the area that he’d been given top secret news. This news was that the pesky Welsh were gathering at an alarming speed, for war. Because of this, the men of Shropshire would have to pay a tax, to provide ‘wages’ for the soldiers that would protect Shropshire. Only there was no tax, and no Welshmen gathering at the borders. Despite this the king persisted, informing the Yeoman, Nobles, and notable men of the county the dire situation at their borders. But the Yeomen and Nobles refused to pay the tax. They said they were well equipped and skilled with their weapons, so they would do their own fighting. Lo and behold the day came, and they turned up fully armed at the doors of the abbey asking when the battle would be. The king, fearing insurrection told them that the Welsh had relented and gone home, as they feared they wouldn’t be able to win against the men of Shropshire. After his close call, the King decided a safer way to raise money would be to sell titles and appointments. So, he did so, with some success, until he decided to sell the title of sheriff. The problem with this was there was already a sheriff. When he found out he was stupefied and rode out to Lilleshall abbey to try and find out what on earth was going on. Perhaps he thought he could get his role back, or change the king’s mind, so the former sheriff entered the abbey. Unfortunately, the sheriff never left the abbey. It is believed that the ghostly monk is the abbot of the monastery, and the ‘secret’ is the sheriff’s murder. The abbot is said to have witnessed the murder and haunts the grounds still, perhaps he is trying to gain justice, or absolution for having been involved. One can be sure that such actions, even if he only witnessed the murder would be in direct opposition to the core tenants of his religious belief.

Walton-DeFuniak Library
01/1997

My daughter and I have visited the Walton-DeFuniak Library for more than 25 years. And we've always heard stories about the original librarian, Alice Fellows, haunting the building. There's definitely a spooky vibe in the 135-year-old structure. Doors open and close by themselves, books fall from shelves, and phantom footsteps creak across the old wooden floorboards. Prior to being the city’s first paid librarian, Fellows worked with the Ladies’ Library Association, a volunteer organization that founded the library in 1886 with the goal of “elevating the moral and intellectual standing of the community,” according to minutes of their early meetings. Fellows enjoyed her work with the library so much that she traveled to Chicago to take classes in Library Science. And when she returned, she assumed the position of librarian. Fellows was a stern woman who never married and served as librarian from 1896 until the week that she died of influenza in 1926. During her reign, no horseplay, loud noise or foolishness was tolerated in the library. And many believe that she continues to wander the stacks occasionally making her presence known. Anytime something unusual occurs, such as the front door coming open without anyone being near it or a book falling from the shelf, the staff will say, "It’s just Alice." Today the Walton-DeFuniak Library is the oldest continually operating library in the state of Florida, housing more than 33,000 books, approximately 800 of which are historically significant and are displayed but not in circulation. The library is also home to an armament collection that dates back to the Crusades in Europe as well as a host of other antiques. There have been numerous additions to the original structure and a reading garden overlooks the lake compliments of the DeFuniak Springs Garden Club. “I like to think of Alice Fellows protecting her library whenever I visit,” says my daughter, Ruby V.... “And when I take my daughter for the first time, I’ll share those stories with her because they filled me with wonder and lit a fire in me for all things spooky and unexplained.” [caption id="attachment_4517" align="aligncenter" width="300"] The Walton-DeFuniak Library is the oldest, continuously operating library in the state.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4518" align="aligncenter" width="300"] The spirit of the first librarian, Alice Fellows, is said to still be roaming the stacks.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4519" align="aligncenter" width="256"] A portrait of Alice Fellows is displayed in the oldest room of the library.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4520" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Former Library Director, Dan Owens and first librarian, Alice Fellows side by side.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4521" align="aligncenter" width="300"] The library is home to more than 30,000 books, an armament collection and many antiques.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4522" align="aligncenter" width="218"] Alice Fellows is buried in Magnolia Cemetery, just 1.4 miles away from the library.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_4523" align="aligncenter" width="300"] The Walton-DeFuniak Library as it was built by the Ladies Library Association in 1886. Shadow Person
01/2020

A brief one: I saw a shadow person one night. Distinctly human-person shaped, not an ambiguous shadow. It even behaved very human-like. I was in the same bedroom that the orb, tapping, and benzoin throwing incident happened. I was in bed and woke up for some reason in the middle of the night. I looked up to the hallway in front of me and could clearly see a shadowy figure of a person peeking into the bedroom. It looked like it was mostly in the hall and was peeking in with its head and shoulders visible with the rest of its ""body"" behind the wall. Its shadowy arm was held up on the door frame. It looked just like a human peering into the room as if to check if I was sleeping, but shadowy. I don't remember if it was transparent or completely opaque. Dark grey ish, black ish shadow. As soon as the shadow person saw I was awake and saw that I saw it, it quickly darted back into the hall as if it was "caught". Very strange! I started sleeping with the door closed after that and didn't see anymore shadow people. Maybe this is what tapped my foot twice in the other encounter I submitted? Who knows... I didn't feel any negative or creepy energy. Pretty neutral albeit startling encounter.

Naples House Weirdness
01/2021

Four different weird encounters that happened while house sitting in Naples, FL between 2020-2021. I don't remember the exact order these things happened in or what specific dates unfortunately. One was a small grey, shadowy orb that I saw after I woke up. At first I thought it was a residual dream, but I then watched it move up the wall until it disappeared into the ceiling. It was somewhat see-through, maybe like 60% opacity. I don't have a photo of the orb, but I took a pic of the area where it happened and drew exactly what I saw so I can send you that if you want. Another time in the same room, I felt someone tap my foot twice right after closing my eyes to go to sleep. It usually takes me a while to fall asleep so I wasn't dreaming. The first time *tap tap tap* I was like, wait, did that just happen? Then again, *tap tap tap*. As if someone was trying to quietly wake me up or get my attention. It was not my girlfriend - she was asleep on the opposite side of me. It was not my cat either, she wasn't in the room. It felt like it was a human hand not a cat paw. I was creeped out, but it didn't happen a third time. A third incident which was a bit more poltergeist-y. Also in the same room. I had a tin of benzoin resin that was thrown across the room by some invisible force. I did not see it happen, but I was in the room at the time and I heard it. It absolutely did not just fall. It had been placed in the back of a wooden crate. It was thrown to the other side of the room. Nothing like that happened before or since though. The last one is just weird as heck, I have no idea what to make of it: I was making a regular ol batch of boxed brownie mix. I mixed everything up myself, poured it into the dish, baked it. All went normally. However, after it came out of the oven and I took a few bites, I suddenly had a bone in my mouth. It was about 1" - 1 1/2" long. No idea what from. It was super gross! Especially because I was vegetarian at the time. I did not eat anymore of that brownie. Now this couldn't have been in the boxed mix. There was no sign of it at all while I was making it. I used to work as a baker so I definitely would have noticed while mixing or pouring!! This was my least favorite of the weird experiences at this property haha. A bonus that is probably nothing paranormal, but still creepy: every so often, usually around 11pm, you could hear dozens of barking coyotes. But not just in the back yard by the woods, it would sound as if the whole house was suddenly surrounded by them. As soon as you opened the door they would stop, but I never saw any run off. They'd seem to vanish.

High Weirdness Home and Cemetery
01/1998

The house I lived in from birth until about age 10 had a cemetery on its property. While there was one "recent" grave from the Vietnam War, almost all the rest dated back much further from between the late 1800s-early 1900s. For as long as I can remember I felt presences within the house and spent a good amount of time in the graveyard. While I never saw any physical apparitions there I always knew that I was never alone, although I always felt very comfortable with whatever I sensed around me. The home also had several acres of forest, and on numerous occasions I would see white animals watching me from just inside the tree lines. Several times it was a very large long-haired dog and another time it was a deer, but the animals would always be pure white and simply standing there motionless looking towards me/the house for a few moments before they would suddenly be gone. While living here I also had several dreams where I was visited by a being that appeared like a young boy around my age. We never spoke that I can remember, but twice when I saw him he gave me an item that I then went on to actually receive in the physical world- both times through my grandmother. The first was an antique polaroid camera and the second was a necklace. After my family moved I never dreamt of this being again.

"Little Man"
01/1954

When my dad was a kid, sleeping over at his grandparents house, he saw a small, white "little man" walking from the kitchen into the dining room. He was scared, so he ducked under the covers. When he peeked out, the little man was standing right there looking at him. He had a bulbous white head and 2 huge black eyes. He was wearing a little grey robe or smock. My dad put covers back over his head and started yelling for his grandparents to help him. The little man then disappeared.

Hidden Pagan Altar at Seattle U
01/2022

West of the administrative building at Seattle University a small altar with a statue may be found in a park area. It is not surprising given the Jesuit Catholic origins of the university, however the offerings at the altar are anything but normal. It is usually covered in pine cones, acorns, and items that appear to be of a more occult origin. The energy is positive, and I've felt a holy, but not particularly Christian vibe. I think this altar has been repurposed by local pagans.

Energy Circle of Tree Detonated by Lightning
05/2021

A tree may be found in the Seattle Arboretum that was detonated by a lightning strike in 2015 according to a Seattle Times article. It splintered radially, forming a circle of debris around the tree. When I visited this space, I found the tree next to a small open area on a warm sunny day. On approaching and entering the circle I felt cold. Placing my hand on the tree, I had a more intense flash of negativity, disorientation, and something akin to emotional pain. It felt like how I would imagine it would sound if a tree could scream in agony. When I stepped outside of the circle I felt warm again. A picture may be found at https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/lightning-strike-claims-tree/

Orbs, Asgardians, witches, magick, crows, gulls, paramilitary, and high weirdness
09/2021

I lived in an apartment overlooking 11th Ave., just South of E. Pike St. The road had been blocked off since the pandemic and it has unusually heavy foot traffic to this day. The historic Wild Rose bar is right around the corner on the crossroads of E. Pike & 11th Ave. While this area is one of the social epicenters of Capitol Hill, playing host to revelers, tarot readers, food stands, music, and other live performers on a regular basis, it also attracts a stranger element. The least weird thing I have experienced there was the semi-regular staging of a force of all black clad unmarked paramilitary troops carrying AR style rifles in the back parking lot of the Alfa Romeo dealership during the protests following the fall of the Capital Hill Autonomous Zone. It’s not the only sus thing that I’ve seen happen in that gated private lot and I suspect somebody there is very cozy with right wing reactionaries, but I have no proof. While fascism is scary, it’s tangible. However, a far more surreal and intangible weirdness permeates this area which seems to both attract strange people and affect folks who live or visit here. I’ve regularly seen a pair of witches that feed and talk to crows under an oak tree. They showed up every day for some number of months. An apparently homeless magician performed frequent hours long guttural chants and practiced gestures facing the road. This could be interpreted as mental illness, but the regularity and the vibe I got was not quite that. He appeared to be banishing or warding something off. Another standout regular was a man pushing a cart from which he threw handfuls of food for a flock of sometimes sixty gulls that trailed him like his own personal shit-bird army! I have also witnessed a distinctly out of place couple walking with an assuredness that I can only describe as godly who looked just like one would imagine a poorly disguised Odin and Thor would look on one of their mythological visits to Midgard. I don’t normally get intimidated, but I didn’t have the nerve to approach them and inquire as to their origins. They just had an overwhelming presence! It’s not just the characters of this area, but an electric unstable energy that invites even less explainable phenomenon. The most obviously paranormal encounter I had there was with an orb of light in my former apartment. Me and a guest of mine were both clear of mind, just talking to each other, when a pea sized ball of very bright blue-white light appeared between us. It was less than two feet away and we saw it from different vantage points. After it blinked into existence it moved around in gravity-defying smooth curves and sharply angled patterns before our very eyes! It looked nothing like a flying insect, nor an odd particle wafting through the air, not that the apartment even had a breeze. We watched it in awe for about five seconds before it just disappeared! This happened in a well-lit room, and we confirmed our experiences with each other right after. I must say, it felt like a positive spiritual presence had visited and made itself known, although its message beyond proclaiming its existence wasn’t clear. I have more stories I could share in my relatively short time living at that location, but this should give you an idea of just what a liminal hot spot it is.

I-5 Time or Spatial Distortion
11/2021

I and my passenger experienced a time or spatial distortion driving on I-5. We were headed North bound around 10pm in the middle of the week having entered the highway on the exit near Pine St. Our destination was my passenger’s home in Northgate, exit 173. We had traveled this route numerous times before at similar hours with the typical non-existent traffic of the pandemic. We both lit up a cigarette, light green American Spirits, at the highway entrance as it was the customary timing to ensure we finished our smokes just as we arrived at her house but no sooner. As any smoker knows, cigarette timing is a thing, especially if you don’t want to chain smoke while driving. Just after passing over the Ship Canal Bridge, we found ourselves blowing past exit 173! Measuring it later, it would appear we jumped four miles North in the blink of an eye! At first there was silence between us, but then one of us spoke up. Did that just happen? We compared notes, and both felt very confused and unsettled by the event. Turning around at the next exit we made our way to her house expecting to spend more time given the detour. We parked outside her place to finish our cigarettes and talk about the experience. That was when we realized we had a little more than half of our cigarettes still left to smoke! We were both completely sober, and not particularly fatigued or tired that night. I was not speeding as I don’t speed, and I had an annoying OBD2 device plugged into my car, recording my speed and location, in order to get lower insurance rates. It made me hyper aware of never breaking traffic laws, and I do not believe this was a typical “autopilot” driving experience. On my solo drive back South, I lit another cigarette as an experiment and smoked it at an abnormally slow pace. However, I still finished it before getting back home on Capitol Hill, even though the time and distance should have been longer given that the two of us didn’t light up until the Pine St. exit when we headed North. Cigarette timing is a thing after all. I’d experience the same phenomenon once more about a month later with the same passenger, on the same route, starting and ending at about the same place, around the same time. It hasn’t happened to me since.

The Lost 40
10/2021

My family and I have always liked to go on adventures, to visit places usually hiking outdoors. I planned a day adventure to a place near us, very close to my husband’s families hunting cabin but neither of us had actually been. It’s called The Lost 40, and it’s an area of land that was incorrectly surveyed by loggers long ago. As a result there was just under 40 acres of old growth forest left untouched. It’s a little over a mile hike to the mid point of the loop. It’s a nice hike for a family with a 4 year old and a husband who has to be convinced to go in the first place. The place had a special feeling to me in general, almost dreamlike. We had a great time taking side trails and seeing where they take us before eventually making our way to the midway point. On our way back we got to a place that felt special. We had past one group earlier but there was no one around us. The sun was shining through the giant trees. I took out my phone to take a video, to capture the weirdness in the moment. I felt very deja vu like and was focusing the camera on my daughter skipping ahead. All the sudden my phone died and wouldn’t turn back on. I had charged it the whole way to be able to capture photos so it should have been fine. At the same time it almost seemed like there was a light distortion or I snapped out of the deja vu state. I took the message as put the phone down and pay attention to this moment. I did exactly that and we enjoyed our time exploring as we hiked the trail out. When we were done and on our way back I tried to turn on my phone. The battery had drained and wouldn’t turn on until it had a little charge. The whole place had a Shangri-la feeling and felt as though it was a thin place. The feeling is hard to explain but it felt like the forest reached out and connected.

"Like Tinkerbell"
07/2021

I was house/cat sitting for friends in a house that I have always felt was haunted. Normally it's just the cats staring at something moving around in the hall, heck I've even walked into it, without being too disturbed. I have housesat many times here, but this time everything seemed "off". The older cat, who was formerly feral, kept trying to get out of the house. I chalked it up to it being summer. The second thing was I woke up one morning to find the door to the yard wide open. I had checked it the night before, It was locked. Now the door was wide open, and BOTH cats were inside. The older cat would have been outside like a flash if she had seen it. I was shaken, but the next night was the weirdest. I woke up at about 3:45 to see a light in the room. Half asleep, I lifted my head up to see a light shining on a shelf in the room I was in. After a second it blinked out. I laid down again and in my half-awake brain thought " Like Tinkerbell", I rolled over then really woke up. This time I only opened my eyes. The light was back, with no light source or even a place for a light. I could see the light shining through the plastic container on the shelf, and the shadow that was cast by the framed picture on the shelf. There was only the tiniest space behind it. I sat up and again the light blinked out, this time it didn't come back. I still have no idea what it was, except it seems to have gone now

Alien Big Cat
01/2010

Not my story, in fact this is a third-hand encounter, but a friend of a friend swore they saw a lynx-like creature walking the moors/ forests around 'The plague village'. It was at night I think, but he heard something light-footed stalking him, said it had a feline appearance but was bigger than a normal cat and specifically it had black tips of fur on top of its ears. Maybe it was just a big Maine Coon roaming the forests of Derbyshire? The person who experienced this admitted they'd had a bit of alcohol that evening. Normally I wouldn't submit this as it's not very weird, but given the morbid history of the village of Eyam I thought I'd send it anyway.

When I was around 8 I lived at home with my mom, dad, and 17 year old sister. I would always see her at the house only to find out she was never home. I use to get so mad because I would try to talk and play with her but she always completely ignored me… but it wasn’t her. As I got older my dad would see me at home when I was at a friends house. My mom would constantly hear me playing with my toys only to remember I was at school. Around when I was 12 we moved to a new house and my dad would still see me when I was away.

Very Weird Morning
03/2022

This was just a weird morning experience. I had been listening to a podcast the night before on the way home, and I distinctly remember hearing the podcaster tell part of a story about how they responded to a dream they had had by waking up getting out of bed and turning all the lights on. This morning the podcast had backtracked about 30 seconds to before the point i finished at the day before and the first part of the story was the same but instead he tells it differently, waking up with all the lights on. I pulled over thinking this is weird and different, rewound the podcast and listened again and it was still the same as what I had just heard. I thought it weird but maybe I had just misheard the night before or confused it with another podcast or something. So before starting off to work again I queued up the next podcast to run after this finished, because it was almost done. I stop to get coffee about the time the first podcast finishes, get back in the car and the next podcast starts, but its not the one that I queued up, but instead one about 'reptilians' which was weird because i hadnt even looked at that podcast or episode and was actually trying to avoid it because i find the whole concept too ridiculous. I let it play, not paying too much attention and get to work. As I am walking to the door two of the staff are holding a different door open telling me they saw a snake crawl in the door frame and asking me if I could get it out. The whole morning had a very surreal feel to it.

Sleeping Doppelganger
06/2006

This happened in an apartment I lived for around 5 years, during the first 2 or so I lived there by myself after that my girlfriend then-wife moved in. After she moved in, something changed, it is hard to explain but you could feel like something else was there, with time she shared that she was always consulting fortune tellers, and all kinds of people to know about her future and to get "bad stuff" as she called it removed and always be "clean. As time passed things started to happen, small things first like seeing "something" in a corner and then seeing the dogs running to that same place to bark, noises with no reason and the feeling of something is around was more frequent so at every time you feel like someone was peeking over your shoulder, but it was not more than that until that one night. We had a king-size bed and we normally slept in the middle of it, that night I was having a hard time sleeping, for no particular reason, at one point I woke up and went to drink some water maybe around 1 am and all was good, fall asleep and then again around 2 am I woke up again and thirsty I went to get some more water and after some steps, I look back to the bed and to my surprise, I saw my GF and also myself there, I felt this shocked like I never before, I was scared and paralyzed like how I am there and here at the same time and I turned on the lights, then I felt like a big hit, like when someone is running and run over you. After the "hit" I opened my eyes and I was in the floor, around 3feet (1 meter) away from the side of the bed, the light was on and when my girlfriend who got awake at the time saw me she said: "What is that in your arm???", when I looked at it, I had a mark like a big hand that grabbed me from the arm, the marks were for a big hand bigger than mine for sure Some people who have heard this story tell me I was just dreaming, but how about the finger marks on my arm, and how I got the light turned on?

Ouija Board Mystery (CW - Violence)
05/1988

One day in the late 80’s, a few days before my 15th birthday, three of my friends and I were hanging out at our friend Zack’s house. There were five of us all together. We’d been suspended from school for protesting the day before. Our parents were all at work, so we decided we might as well have fun with it and gathered at Zack’s for the day. We’d planned to head over to a spring festival that would open after school was out that day, so we were basically killing time until then. By mid afternoon we were pretty bored and someone had the idea to bring out a Ouija board. I’d never used one before and had no idea what to expect. So I didn’t understand how unusual it was that it kept spelling out the word “help.” We studied each other’s faces trying to sus out if someone was moving the planchette. I still remember the frightened looks in my friends’ eyes. We didn’t know what to do with that word so we asked questions and it spelled out answers. Piece by piece a picture emerged. A terrified little boy was hiding somewhere. He was in danger and he was asking us to help him. He was not alone. There were many children with him—all in danger, all hiding. We were at a loss. We started arguing about what to do and whether it was a trick. It was upsetting and confusing. Eventually we put the game away because it was freaking everyone out, and anyway it was time to head over to the festival. When we stepped outside a fire truck sped past with it’s sirens blaring. Then a cop car. And another. This was a quiet residential community, sirens were not commonplace. We piled into the car and noticed more police cars and ambulances and fire trucks, all speeding, all with sirens blaring and the names of neighboring communities on them. As we drove we were rerouted by street closures. There were so many emergency vehicles from so many neighboring communities we lost count. It was clear that something terrible had happened but we had no idea what or where. Finally we got to a point where emergency vehicles were passing us from a new direction, and we were able to figure out where they were headed: The elementary school. There was very little talk in the car then. We wondered whether any of our classmates who’d been at the high school all day would have any information about what was going on. Remember this was the late 80’s—no smart phones, no internet. We were in the dark. After we parked and started walking toward the festival, we noticed throngs of our schoolmates running past us headed *away* from the fest. We pulled one aside and asked what was going on “spring fest is canceled.” We ran to keep up with her. Asking why and what happened etc. Breathless and wide-eyed she answered “we’ve all been evacuated and sent home—someone opened fire on a classroom at the elementary school— she’s still at large. We all have to go straight home and lock our doors.” And then she was gone sprinting up the street. Our stomachs dropped. We stared at each other in silence, and then started running back to the car. None of us ever spoke about this with each other or anyone else as far as I know. I can’t say for sure what anyone else’s reasons are but for me, I never wanted to shift focus from the horrible tragedy that had occurred that day. One child had died and others were injured. The community was traumatized. We were mute. I still don’t talk about it.

Oswestry Frog Rain
06/1912

The sources do not specifically state where in Oswestry it occurred, other than the 'general area' so for the purpose of this I would suggest it would be in the town centre. The summer of 1912 was a fairly warm one, The Stockholm Olympics were underway and life was going ahead as normal for the people of Oswestry. Despite the pleasant weather, There were intermittent heavy rainstorms all over Britain. In Oswestry however, these took a strange turn. It is said that one day in particular, within a period of two hours the town was bombarded with hundreds- if not thousands of frogs falling alongside the rain from the sky. They splattered the streets- leaving traces everywhere and no doubt grossing out the towns inhabitants. There was scarcely a piece of road or path that didn't have bits of frog on them. However as soon as the rain stopped- any trace of the frogs remains disappeared- as if the strange rain never happened- greatly puzzling the town. .

The Devil's Causeway
01/1850

The road between Acton Burnell and Cardington is known as ‘The Devil’s Causeway’, as The Devil created this road in a single night. He is said to wander the road still, appearing to anyone who chooses to walk this path at midnight. He takes the form of a man riding a white horse, (sometimes with horns and hooves like a goat or cow) and judges the souls of those caught out late. If you have lived a good life, you may pass unheeded, living to tell the tale, and warn others of the dangers. However, if you are a wretched soul, the devil is free to beat you to a bloodied pulp. He literally smashes you to pieces and leaves you dead on the road. This seems like a very extreme fate- but I suppose that's what the devil is all about.

Frog Well
04/2022

If you're travelling along the old roman road between Ruckley and Acton Burnell- be sure to keep an eye out for the Devil. half way down the bank there sits a ferny, flowery area which is surrounded by ancient trees of yew, holly and ash. Here a "beautiful springs drips from a rocky basin" and has been used as a well for centuries. Its waters are said to never fail and it has particular healing qualities for eye ailments. Its known locally as 'Frog Well' Though this idyllic scene springs to mind fairies or water nymphs- a more sinister creature likes to dwell. This creature is none other than the Devil. The devil is said to love hanging out at this well and is often accompanied by a few of his closest imps- his best mates if you will. Of course they all take the guise of Frogs to avoid detection. The devil seems extra cautious of this- so he hides deep in the depths of the well as a big fat frog. Perhaps he sees his time at frog well as his downtime away from his usual schedule of mayhem and misery- like a little holiday so he would rather not be bothered The imps seem a bit more laid back, and are often seen chilling out by the waters edge.

Phantom Music
09/2019

TL,DR: I heard phantom music in the woods. In 2019 I decided to make an offering to the local spirits in the woods on the afternoon of the Autumn Equinox. I followed the Superior Hiking Trail from the Munger trailhead on Becks Rd toward Fon Du Lac. I'm not entirely sure how far I went out, but it was well past the Miller Creek Bridge. I just kept hiking until it felt right, then walked a ways off the trail to a little clearing on a hill. From where I sat I could see a bend of the trail so could see whether anyone came or went. About halfway through my offering, I suddenly heard very nearby what sounded like a wooden flute. It only played one...stanza? I'm not sure of the right term, but essentially it just played a short melody, did not repeat, and did not continue into a full song. That was it, I heard nothing further. No one else came or went along the trail the whole time I was there and I never heard any voices or indication anyone was out there other than this one bit of flute music. I had my dog with me and she became very restless during this time, whining at me like she wanted to leave. I sat for a little while after finishing the offering, then packed up and headed back to the trailhead. Again I never saw anyone, but what was very interesting to me was that on the whole way back, the woods smelled like incense and looked absolutely golden. It was beautiful. I've never experienced any of this or anything even like this before or since. I was fully sober, I did not use any mind altering substances of any kind. I'm convinced I had an encounter with The Other Crowd that day.

Mt. Konocti
01/1880

There has long been tales of strangeness surrounding Mount Konocti, the most notable being similar to its more famous Northern cousin, Mt Shasta: stories of a cave system below it where spirits are said to live. There are legends of seeing lights & even physical flying craft coming out of the mountain, and it is said that the local Pomo tribe used to leave offerings in the caves, which historically were more accessible prior to a landslide. The existence of the caves is actually documented by geologists, and there are some who have tried to map the cave system, but without success due to rock falls closing off some of the tunnels.

Lake Willoughby Hotspot
01/1999

Growing up in Westmore Vermont, I always felt blessed. However as time has gone on, I've wondered if our curses outweigh the blessings. The area is plagued with legends and stories ranging from the Wendigo, Bigfoot, shadow people, ghosts, UFO's, you name it. This shared local history is exacerbated by my direct family's collective involvement with different aspects of this mostly unseen force. For me, this force manifested by showing me (extremely potent and horrifying) visions in my dreams, and shadow creatures/unusual animals in my waking experience. My father primarily witnessed technology, and cryptid animals that did not make sense. My mother, visions of dying people in her kitchen, and voices from beyond instructing her to do bad things, to not trust her family, etc. This would wind up driving her mostly insane, as she remains today. :( My older sister heard many disembodied voices over her time at home, and my younger sister claims to have been involved in attempting to summon an incubus, among other shared events involving something akin to a sludge entity. I am not surprised or angered by the incubus thing, simply knowing the massive paranormal blanket that seems to have been laid over our childhood home. The home is fairly new, built in the late 90's. The property, however, is very full of history. The site was once home to a garbage dump for farms in the area through the 19th century. As a result, the land was sold for a good price to my father, who wound up clear-cutting the lot and preparing it for construction. In the process of clearing out the brush, it became evident that this wasn't just a dump, but also a place where many dead animals were brought to... Rot, apparently; We discovered more than just a few skulls, femurs, and various other skeletal bits less than 6 feet under. I was very young, but I remember the amount of mostly cow bones being found was surprising, even knowing the history of the location. I just found this website, and it's exciting for me, because I want to see if anyone else from my area has mentioned anything like this on here. And, if not, perhaps my posting this will be a welcome change of pace for an otherwise unacknowledged paranormal hotspot. Lake Willoughby is regarded by many as just plain mystical. It's formation is even the subject of spirited research, and research has continued to this day. My parents were Coastguardsmen, and as a young couple, went diving in this lake. This is no small feat. Lake Willoughby is one of the deepest lakes in New England, even though it's so small. The reason for that is the bottom is incredibly craggy, and uneven. There is no true lakebed towards the center.... Just a field of large, rocky, stalagmite structures. Sonar imaging proves this. The true "depth" is not really known as a result, just approximations. Westmore is a deeply mystical and mysterious place, with what many people regard as a pervasive, dark energy that runs through the land. Some people consider the lake to be a portal, although by observing known leylines and meridians that typically indicate some kind of energetic "weirdness" to an area, it doesn't seem to have any nearby. I have several stories to elaborate on. These are mostly my own and my father's stories that he's no longer here to tell. 4 of my fathers, several of my own, and then local lore to follow it. It is quickly becoming the murky, heady, and foamy nonsense of legend as time and experience separates me from this mystical place further and further.... A few things to those intrepid enough to seek this place out: 1. This is private property. The Willoughby State forest is open to the public, but this is protected land and limited on what can be done on the land. My property is quite obviously private property. Trespassing can and many times will result in penalization, fines, potential jail time, and worst case scenario, you will be shot until dead by my mother, or her mother. If that isn't enough to keep you out; 2. The terrain is fairly extreme. Our property sits less than a mile from the Willoughby "shoreline". I say that in quotations because the "sides" of the lake, ie the points between the two main beaches, North beach and South Beach, are mostly sheer drop offs, just shy of cliffs ranging from 10 to 100's of feet of near vertical drops. The land directly above these drops is very craggy, full of small ravines, thick brush, vernal pools, and all sorts of mud. It is beyond being difficult to navigate; it takes luck, strength, skill and preferably a lighter frame to truly ford through a lot of this terrain without risking injury. And finally, if that isn't enough; 3. Game animals are less common, while coyotes, fox, and possibly catamount (mtn lion) prowl these areas regularly. I have personally seen and stood down a very large, short-haired cat not even 500 yards from my own house, right past the treeline. Back in 2009. Let alone the many sightings of red fox and the sound of coyote packs wailing in the night, not far in the distance. All of these animals pose very real threats to a person's well being, especially anyone attempting to move under the cover of night....

Life-Altering Visitation
04/2018

I was in my office, which was a fully lit 10x10 room with no external walls in the middle of the house. I was playing video games late into the night and had achieved something that felt major at the time. I logged off of the game, absolutely elated, and decided to check my email before going to bed. I had a yeti blue mic on a boom and some nice headphones on. The mic was on, because I had just been playing with a group on discord, and hadn't turned any of it off yet. The mic's gain was pretty high and I keep feedback on to hear myself, but the mic picks up background environmental sounds if the source is close or loud enough. I heard my door creak open behind me and heard heavy breathing. I assumed it was my dog, Lucy, because the cat would occasionally let her out of her room. I was in such a good mood that I just turned around with a smile, ready to invite her in. My dog wasn't there. Instead, only about 6 feet away from me, an ETs head and upper torso peered into the room. It's hand was wrapped around the door's edge as it leaned into the room. It's almond shaped eyes were dark, black pits that inspired deep, deep fear (possibly just because of cognitive dissonance?). It's skin was smooth and grey, with a head shaped like a guitar pick, somewhat hollowed cheeks, and a slightly protruding mouth. There was no distinguishable nose or ears to my memory. The fingers appeared somewhat long. I backed my chair into my desk, trying to evade in a room where the only exit was the door with the entity my reptile brain wanted to escape, saying "no no no" repeatedly with widening eyes. I pressed myself backward into the chair as best as I could, but my fight or flight response kicked in, and realized that flight wasn't an option. I grabbed the nearest thing that I could find, a small hand carved cane from 1934, as a defense tool, and looked back. As I did, those same eyes froze me in place. Then the being withdrew its head and hand slowly, exiting the room, and closing and latching the door behind it. I was in shock. But then I realized that my wife was just across the hall, and my body sprung into action. I opened the door to find her sleeping. She turned over, barely awake from me flying into the room with a phone flashlight, and asked "what are you doing?" She hated having her sleep disrupted, but I had to check the room. I asked her if she had seen or heard anything (without giving any info), and she said "no." Then rolled back over and fell asleep. I quickly and quietly checked the room to find it empty, and then searched the entire house, including every door and window lock. Empty. No sign of anything. I decided to sleep on the couch just in case it came back, and kept the light on. When I woke up the next day, my wife asked me what all that was about. I told her "I'm not sure if you'd believe me." We had several strange occurrences in this house, from voices that we could both hear coming from our kitchen while lying in bed or human footsteps walking down our hallway, into our room, and next to our bed, to doors that would open or lights that would turn on on their own - right in front of us, with no reasonable explanation. I assumed she'd guess something ghostly or spiritual, because we had wondered if something was roaming our home. But no. She immediately said, not asked, but said "it was an alien, wasn't it." I was flabbergasted. "Why would you say that?" I asked. "I don't know. I just have a feeling, like I just know that's what it is," she replied After that, I had wondered if I just had a one time schizophrenic episode, or a delusion, but I could recall every detail of what I saw very vividly. I questioned my sanity, but also waited for the men in black to show up. Nothing happened. At least not right away... Not long after, my ears started ringing all of the time. I had hearing tests performed, which determined that I have near perfect hearing, and the audiologist determined that I probably had tinnitus. But...when my ears would ring, I would receive messages. They weren't audio-visual or technical, but rather felt like knowledge being dropped into my brain. I called it "knowing." I could correctly predict the time with no context or awareness of it down to the minute. I received knowledge of shapes that I had never seen nor heard of before, but drew out, and later discovered to be something called a merkabah. I was given information that my father in law would fall ill with something serious very soon, and told my wife to cash him a lot. He was hospitalized two weeks later and diagnosed with a terminal illness. I received other information - some pointing back to ancient religions/mysticism, and others warning me of trivial things. I could connect with people, even over the internet, and tell them accurate details about themselves that made them uncomfortable. These weren't vague, like "something big is coming in your future," but very specific, liked "you...live alone, but you're thinking about moving back in with your parents. Sorry, parent. I'm sorry about your dad's heart attack. I can see why that would leave you debating whether or not to move back." The accuracy would freak these internet friends out to the point that they thought I was hacking them (I'm nowhere near capable of hacking into my garage if I forget the code, so there's no way I'm hacking someone's computer). The messages came until I entered a dark night of the soul. The story is surprisingly longer and even more fascinating, with additional witnesses and visual/physical manifestations or thought implanting, but I won't go into that here. That night in my office changed my life. I went from being a somewhat progressive protestant, secure in his faith, and clinging to the idea of conservatism to questioning the very foundations of reality. It's been an interesting ride, and I wouldn't take it back for anything. I feel foolish for having resorted to fight/flight responses, and I would love to meet these beings again under similar circumstances in order to convey my apologies for our last meeting and gratitude for everything they've given me. I hope it happens some day, but it's now 3.5 years later, and despite many invitations, I haven't seen a thing

The Hermitage of Saint Saturnin
01/2010

The Hermitage of Saint Saturnin (Ermida de São Saturnino) is a 12th Century ruined structure situated between Sintra and the sea. It rests on the base of a rocky mount topped by the Peninha Chapel - also known as Chapel of Our Lady of the Rock (Penha), a later structure from the 16th century. In 1918, a Romantic Revival residence was added to the complex by a wealthy landowner called António Carvalho Monteiro, who also owned the Regaleira Estate near the centre of the village of Sintra, rumoured to be part of local Masonic Lodges and aware of the location of the Holy Grail. While visiting this area around 2010, two strange occurrences took place. The first, in the Hermitage, where energy orbs were observable both in digital cameras and the naked eye, paired with a heavy feeling of dread and despair. Inside the Hermitage, there was also a burnt carcass of a goat hanging from the ceiling. The second ocurrence took place inside the Peninha Chapel, where I met a local guide who explained the history of the site and indicated that the Holy Grail's resting place was indeed somewhere tucked under the rocks under this very Chapel. Visiting the location a second time in the following week, upon relaying the occurrence to a second guide outside the Chapel, they guaranteed that the building had been closed for months and no one had been inside other than for maintenance.

The Devil's Chair
03/2022

The Stiperstones is a place that is synonymous with the Devil. Here amongst the hills, stands an imposing rocky outcrop, known locally as the Devil’s Chair. It is said that the Devil was heading back through the hills, after spending some time in Ireland. He carried large stones, in his apron pocket, which he was planning to use to fill up a valley known as Hells Gutter, which was not far from the area. Hell's Gutter was believed to be a direct gateway to hell, and the Devil was fed up with people wandering into his domain! However, as one can imagine, carrying stones comes with its own set of challenges. It had been a long journey and he was beginning to feel the strain. Quite suddenly, His apron strings snapped, scattering the stones around him. One of these stones stands out far more than the others, and the Devil uses this for his chair. The Devil uses this chair as an outpost to watch over the whole of the country and tries to force the stone back down into the earth. When he succeeds, it will bring about the fall of England. It is generally believed to be a dangerous place, particularly on the longest night of the year. This is when the devil sits and calls forth all the counties’ followers, Witches, Warlocks, and cruel spirits, to judge their misdeeds, as they partake in the most important black mass of the year, culminating in the election of the king of Evil for the following year.

Regional Crow Headquarters in Kent

Every night thousands of crows fly from Seattle and Renton and nearby cities down to rest in Kent. I don't actually know if they roost for the night because I've never been able to figure out where they sleep. Large groups of them hang out in parking lots and on top of buildings. They silently watch everything and pick through the dumpsters for snacks. They are highly intelligent and remember people for decades, so I wonder if they're sharing information with each other when they convene, plotting world takeover.

Chena Hot Springs Entities
05/2021

On my way up to Chena Hot Springs near Fairbanks, Alaska I saw several strangely shaped creatures in the dense woods next to the road. The road itself is very spooky because it is so isolated, there are rarely other cars on the road and NO homes or signs of "civilization" for miles and miles. What I saw looked like a giraffe in leg shape and length, but the head was more of a Buffalo or bison shape. Like a horn-less buffalo with really long spindly legs. Dark brown fur or hair was very short like a horse. Very strange, unlike anything I have ever seen in real life or books. My fiancé was with me and did not see it any of the times I did, and we did NOT want to stop and explore on this desolate mountain road. I assume its a spiritual entity like a land spirit or residual energy of an extinct animal rather than a flesh and bone creature. But who knows? Weirder things have existed.

There's a basement chapel where they keep cremated remains of church members that wanted to be laid to rest there. The one time I went in to the chapel it felt like when I enter a cemetery. I got a clear message through my body and head that this was a place of rest and that I was not welcome at that time. I quickly left! Spring Street Deer Spirit
04/2014

This took place at my old Somerville place. I rented a room with several other people on the 2nd floor. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Anyways, one day at work one of my supervisors gave me a deer skull with antlers. She had rescued it from a dumpster across the country some time ago and randomly felt compelled to give it to me. I was very happy to take it and promptly put it on my altar. I don't remember exactly when, but maybe about a few days to a week later something weird happened: I woke up in the middle of the night to find the deer skull FLOATING about 2-3' off the altar. I stared at it like, "whaaaat?" and then a few seconds later it carefully lowered back down onto the altar. It made no sound and did not move anything else on the altar. The next day I mentioned the experience to a psychic. They told me, "there's a bullet hole in the skull and the skull was moved across the country? The deer is probably lost and confused." Apparently the deer spirit knew coming to me could help it. I was supposed to bring it back to the woods. So I took the skull on a little trip to the woods. I walked a ways in to find a quiet and secluded location. There was a nice little space under a fallen tree that seemed appropriate. I placed the deer skull in there with a couple crystals and herbs to help the deer spirit find its way home, said a few prayers, and left. That was the end of that experience.

Scary Truck
01/2018

One night my wife and I left her parents’ houses and traveled route 140 to get home. I don’t remember what we were talking about, but I do remember we were joking and laughing. Mid laugh, I caught a glimpse of an odd truck parked at the entrance of the UPS distribution warehouse. It stuck out to me because although it was dark, it seemed to be a really old, beat-up pickup truck with wooden structure built on the bed. It’s lights were off and it was parked facing the road which also stuck out because that lot has an entrance and an exit, so he was faced the wrong way. It gave me enough of a vibe that my previous elated mood dropped a peg or two; it sort of reminded me of the truck from the awful movie Jeepers Creepers. It would have been easy enough to shake off and forget about, but we were less than half a mile from where I saw it when I suddenly realized it was tailgating me. It still had no headlights on, but the read of my rear lights was reflecting off the grill which was mere feet from my rear bumper. Now my wife and I were both very freaked out. I sped up but he kept right up with me. My mind raced wondering what kind of psycho would be driving that close behind me at night with no lights on. I decided that, knowing a traffic light was ahead, I would slow down until the light turned yellow and then gun it through the intersection leaving him at the red light. I did this, and it seemed to work- but my victory lap was short-lived because in the space of 30 seconds he was again about a foot or two from the trunk of my car! As I approached Main Street in Shrewsbury, my last ditch effort was to get into the left turn only lane and fake a left turn, then cut the wheel and continue straight on 140. This actually did work as he continued left and I sped off towards the highway. I spent the rest of the drive home keeping a close eye on my rear view mirror, but didn’t see the truck again. It was a harrowing ride and I was a bit shaken by it- what was the point of any of that? Who was driving that truck? Whatever the case I hope to never be chased by it again.

Phantom Milkmaid
01/1980

The Darwin Shopping centre is in the heart of Shrewsbury town. During the construction of the building, a rather tragic ghost was unearthed. The builders began hearing strange, unexplained noises. They felt uneasy in certain areas of the construction site. Then, she began to manifest. The builders on the night shift began to report sightings of a young milkmaid, carrying with her a yolk and pail. She would walk around the building site, as if in a trance and repeat - “Weight and measure sold I ever, Milk and water sold I never” Again, and again and again. When they would approach her, she would disappear. This unnerved the men so much that several refused to carry out the work. When this apparition was looked into, it was discovered that there had been a milkmaid sentenced to death in 1600 for supposedly selling watered down milk. She had pleaded her innocence throughout the short trial and vowed to haunt the spot to prove herself free from wrong. Perhaps she was trying to get the builders on her side, in hope she could finally clear her name.

Battlefield Shrewsbury
01/1405

The battle of Shrewsbury was an important event in British history for a number of reasons. It was the first battle in which English archers fought each other on English soil, and it solidified the effectiveness of the Longbow, as well as ending the Percy threat to King Henry IV of England. It was also the sight of much death. Indeed, chroniclers argued that it was one of the bloodiest battles ever fought on English Soil, and though difficult to predict decisively it’s a fair estimate that anywhere around 3000 casualties lost their lives on that field. Such a scale of loss cannot leave the land unmarked, and many found themselves in a mass grave, not too far from the scene. And, a mere 2 years after the battle, the dead were seen again. There are a number of accounts of ghostly sightings, of ethereal groups of men, women and children moving across the battlefield, only to disappear into the mists. There have also been modern day sightings of similar entities, as well as solitary apparitions still wandering that bloodstained battlefield, Sounds of battle are also reported, the clattering of sword on shield, thunder of horses hooves and cries of men.

Literal Vortex
03/2021

I had been struggling with a medical malady that doctors couldn't quite get to the bottom of, and that day I had recently listened to a podcast about healing vortices. I found the concept and terminology a bit woo even for my taste, so I was being slightly tongue-in-cheek when I asked Randonaut for a "healing vortex" but I was open to anything at that point. The pin dropped not far from my house, in what looked on the map to be a forested area, but when I arrived I saw there is a path leading off the road into the woods, straight towards the pin, so in a went. To the right there is a small stream/creek and going a little ways in, right by the Randonaut pin I encountered a small pond on the left of the path. I could see that normally this was a runoff ditch that would pass through a tube under the path and drain into the creek on the other side, but at the time the tube was clogged up by dirt and debris and only a small amount was making its way under. The result was a small persistent standing whirlpool in the pond, also known in fluid dynamics as... a vortex! I sat and watched it and meditated with it (hey I was feeling hopeful) for nearly an hour, and took some short videos which I still have, before moving on to explore the rest of this secret little wooded glade (which I've since had some other weird experiences in). I unfortunately can't say I was properly healed, but I can't deny that I asked Randonaut for a vortex and it brought me to a literal vortex. Bobtown Time Slip
09/2015

One time was driving with 2 close friends from Morgantown, WV to Pittsburgh, PA. This is about 70 miles, normally takes about 90 minutes total travel time with traffic etc. Friend A & I left from Morgantown & went to Dunkard (near Bobtown) to pick up Friend B for the journey, which he had made dozens of times, if not more, for a monthly movie night. We had many times driven through Bobtown, a nearby unincorporated coal town, for its creepy ambiance on our night drives. This night was particularly overcast & foggy so we decided to keep with that tradition, stay off the highway, and take the longer, spookier route to Pittsburgh. So we set off from Friend B's house through Bobtown, one of us commenting that perhaps we were in the mists of Ravenloft, as the fog had suddenly become very dense! We proceeded through the town slowly, noting the almost false-seeming stillness of the town and soon after emerged.... right outside Pittsburgh. None of us has ever been able to explain how we passed through 50ish miles of terrain in under 20 minutes (the car's clock, and our phones' timekeeping abilities confirmed that very little time had passed). None of us has memory of a shortcut or other detour and we all fully expected nearly an hour of driving. Somehow we went through Bobtown and skipped an hour of travel and a great distance in its fog. NB: The Allegheny mountains and the fact that we were in a '94 Nissan Sentra *really* make this whole thing make less sense. Even if I had been speeding, there's NO way I could have made that kind of time for that trip. Absolutely bananas. Weirdly, to this day I often have dreams about Bobtown, or about going there. It was never our destination, I don't think I've ever even stopped there.

Phantom Truck at Tumbleweed Dance Hall
07/1997

I grew up, among other places, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. As a teenager, I was out one night, just rambling East bound on W. Lakeview Road, a disaffected youth, with their disaffected friends looking for mischief that we were sure to find near the Tumbleweed Dance Hall. “The Weed” is an iconic country western bar, full of shit-kickers and rednecks that might give a teenager a long neck after closing time. While the area is more developed today, it was solidly “the country” then, even if it was technically just outside of the city limits of that big cow town. Giant jacked up pick up trucks, with pipes and stacks that bellowed black smoke were common sights and sounds as they dangerously sped up and down those roads. However, when one of these wasn’t passing it was quiet enough that you would hear even a more modest vehicle coming from miles away. My friends and I had just made it over the top of a hill, when the blinding headlights and roaring engine of one of these trucks snuck up behind us! We all jumped off the road into the ditches, so surprised by the impossible appearance of such a thundering vehicle! The truck never passed though! The headlights and engine sounds just cut out. It was dead quiet except for the hollering in the distance by The Weed. We all ran back to the top of the hill as fast as our legs would take us and looked West down the road. There was absolutely nothing there! We were all thinking it, but nobody wanted to say it. Were we just visited by a phantom truck? At once we started an ad-hoc investigation. County Road 3290 was too far West for the vehicle to have coasted back down the hill with its lights cut in neutral, and the only other turn offs were into private residences that we knew the owners of and were either gated, or we trespassed on immediately in order to see if it could have possibly turned off. We found nothing and checked in with the neighbors the next day. Our only conclusion was that we had seen a bona fide phantom lifted truck; it’s passengers probably on their way to The Weed for a cold beer, calf fry, and some good ol’ fashioned two steppin’!

Squirrels, or Something Else?
07/2018

I was sitting on a bench in the park, just people watching. I remember the people started thinning out as the sun got ready to set. It was during that few moments of golden light before the sun sets. I saw movement in my peripheral and turned to see… a bird. That is what my brain first told me, but then my brain had a short millisecond argument with itself trying to categorize and define what it saw. It was a bird. No, it was a squirrel. No, you saw tiny bare feet and a hand holding a twig or staff or??? It was not a squirrel. It was a tiny man wearing a squirrel pelt. By the time I reached that thought, it was gone. On a similar note, few months later about a mile away on Highland street, I had another strange squirrel encounter. This was definitely a squirrel, I think, but it made me think about the little man. I was headed down Highland toward Barnett Avenue. Park and fire station on my right and a cemetery on my left. I saw a squirrel in the road trying to move something. I slowed to let it get out of the street and watched it grab a dead squirrel, it’s hands holding the dead squirrels hands and it pulled it out of the street and up into the bushes.

Medford Time Slip
08/2004

I’d lived in Medford for 38 years when this happened. Definitely know the area well, not a large place. I was on my way home from getting gas when I noticed a large number of buzzards circling the air currents pretty high up about 2-3 blocks ahead. There were a lot of them, 40-50, and they were circling in almost a tornado like pattern. I was driving a ‘96 Jeep Cherokee, old style odometer and gas meter, I had to roll the windows by hand. I noticed my gas gauge was on empty and my odometer had flattened to zero even though I was going a little over 20. I pulled over to see what was up. These gauges corrected and flattened several times, then seemed to go back to normal. I continued on my way, but quickly realized I didn’t know where I was. Nothing looked familiar. The street signs were right, but nothing looked familiar. I drove in big squares, turning left at each cross street, but nothing looked right. Mind you, even if I wasn’t familiar with this area, I shouldn’t have gotten lost. Within a turn or two I should have dumped out on one of our main streets. Again, the names were right, just not the place. I could see the birds circling the whole time. Just as I was thinking I should stop somewhere and call home (didn’t own a cell phone yet), I noticed the birds flying off to the east. I looked around and things were back to normal. What should have been a 30 minute trip for gas took me almost an hour and a half. I’ve driven those streets many times since and nothing strange has happened.

Crow Magic
09/2021

We take Our daughter to Marvista park in Normandy Park almost every weekend. One day we were walking around and noticed a ton of crows in a tree. My wife told my daughter to “Look at all of the crows”. This woman with black and purple hair overheard us and told us that she had been training them for the past 18 months. She then proceeded to tell us to watch her when she left, for a “show”. We dismissed her for a minute and thought to ourselves “ok…….” But then, sure enough, she got in her car and about 30-50 crows followed her to the nearest tree. As she drove off, they all followed her. Flying right above her car, down the street as far as we could see. She was gone for about 5-10 minutes when I went to go put my daughter’s bike into our car. I noticed her drive by again. The crows were still following her! flying above the car. Her head was hanging out of the window, talking to them

Lyndonville Air Force Station
6/2019

On top of a mountain in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is a decommissioned AFB and radar station. My partner and our two friends spent the night on the roof of one of the still-intact towers and watched the skies for several hours. We'd been told by the landowner (we met randomly on the way up) that the place is known to be haunted, full of UFO activity, and even on the ground some strange things have been reported. The man was friendly and welcoming and encouraged us to look up. As the night finally got dark in the middle of that June evening, the stars came out, and so did something else. White and glowing just brighter than the surrounding stars, two different lights blinked above us and moved at right angles throughout the sky. The blinking wasn't any sort of pattern and seemed random, and as soon as one would appear it would blink a bit, move one way and then 90 degree it another before blinking out. This went on for several minutes before we were too exhausted to carry on, but the place has a reputation for all manner of bizarre sky activity and that being up on the tower roofs makes one an easier target for *whatever's out there*. We're lucky for what we witnessed.

Odd Church/Dream Entity
01/2022

I lived about 15km away from this small town for most of my life. Lots of old buildings, some more or less abandoned that looked stuck in the past. The weirdest part is probably the Church. It used to be two buildings, a church and a chapel next to each other, but one day a lightning struck the bell tower, not only that but the roof also. collapsed soon after due to poor maintenance. (No casualties at all thankfully) During the reconstruction it was decided to merge the two buildings into one (you can actually see it with one of the doors being placed in a narrow space which the two building merged). The strangest part is that the church's unusual shape make it face both the East like it should normally do but also the South. Moreover, there is a few houses placed like an isle near the church, one of them used to make it difficult to get around the building with a car, but after the owner passed away it was bought by the town and destroyed. There's a lot of things like that going on in this town that would take time to get to, but what I mean is... Something is feeling off since a few days. I had a very blurry dream with some kind of human sized doll, like an animatronic or such roaming the Main Street. I cannot remember anything clear about it, but now the whole town feels very odd. Even a thousand of kilometers away I have this restless feeling this entity is there. It's not even aggressive, it just seem to lurk inside those few buildings linked to the past.
