Billings, MT
Early 2000's
In the early 2000s I and my wife at the time went to the Billings Depot Antique shop (now refurbished as business offices). While I was in the upstairs, I was looking at some old military medals. I caught movement out of the corner of my eye and looked up. Standing in the far corner of the room near the stairs was a man in a WW2-era Army dress uniform. He stared at me for a couple minutes, then faded away.
Much later, I was reading a book on haunted places in Montana and found out that at the end of WW2, a planeload of military personnel returning home from the war had missed the runway and crashed off the edge of the rims down into the city. The basement of the building that later housed the Antique shop was used as a makeshift morgue. The place I saw the soldier was the location of the elevator that accessed the basement.
