…He was huge (overweight) and old, sitting in a red lawn chair on a red porch that had a red light. There was a red cooler next to him on the porch….
I was outside of the haunted Providence Academy in Vancouver Washington, taking a tour. I was at least 100 feet from the nearest building or sidewalk. It had been raining.
In the middle of the gravel there was a lone, pristinely clean orange. The Interdimensional Produce Wizard strikes again!
A man named Alfred Horne was cutting down a Christmas tree near his home on Berry Road when he saw a small man – if it could be described as a man – staring silently at him from the edge of the woods. It was roughly two feet tall, had elephant-like skin and floppy ears, visible nostrils but no nose, and stumpy extremities with no apparent fingers or toes….
…Remember how I said to be respectful of the locals? Surrounding this area are the indigenous Laguna, some Acoma, and those granted access by the Spanish King via blessing way before this region became a US territory (or state). If you fail to be respectful to land or the people, there are whispers that if you touch/drink/interact with the waters, they will judge your soul and deal with you appropriately. The edges of the cut away cliffs on this Mesa church “bleed” (iron deposits) when the shrine isn’t cared for….
I found this pylon while looking for a safe place to read an unpleasant email. I willed the square of grass in it into a timeless bubble and it helped me de-stress….
I was driving down the national trails highway (route 66) from Beatty, NV where I had slept in a rest stop overnight. I noticed this strange statue in the sand to the side of the highway near Amboy, CA but kept going. Once I saw the second same statue a bit down the road I decided to pull off and take pictures. There were 2 large stone foo dogs (.4 mile apart) facing toward the mountains, desert and caves across the highway. The dirt around the statues was torn up like someone had made a labyrinth like path around the property between the two statues with a truck. I took photos and when I got service a bit down the road (once I got to the only gas station for miles) I posted them online. I started driving toward Joshua Tree, right as I passed the chloride mines I decided to pull off again to find my cigarettes, I checked my twitter and was told I should post my findings on this site. That’s where the story really begins….
…The issue of suicide at this bridge became so pervasive, that the county had the bridge torn down and rebuilt without trusses in 2010 to try and prevent any more tragic deaths of this nature. The bridge is now covered in graffiti, no doubt from young people trying to live up to the dares that are so popular in the age group. Most are names, swear words, drawings of phalluses, but the name Dagon is one incidence that stand out….
Between the years of 1938 and 1945, the Black Flash terrorized the citizens of Provincetown during the off-season for vacationing tourists. This Phantom of Cape Cod’s legend grew through repeated accounts from frightened townspeople who encountered the strange figure. In description, he was reminiscent of the British Spring-Heeled Jack – the Flash was described as being well over 6 feet tall, wearing a black hood and black cape….
The petroglyphs are visible from the Vilas Bridge on the Walpole, New Hampshire side while another cluster of them can be seen from the Bellows Falls side – they seem to be all located near a bit of an island in the Connecticut River. Who carved the faces? And why? It certainly gives the impression of a thin place, and we’re each of us left to judge for ourselves.
…Sometimes I would run past him and he would be striding down the sidewalk with his coat blowing behind him. Other times he would be hidden and scare me deeply. For example I once ran up upon him (and he was so thin) hidden behind a telephone pole smoking a cigarette….
