All Plants Day
Plants are amazing! This symbol means “knowledge hiding in plain sight.” At Liminal Earth, we like to talk about something we call “Plant Awareness.” Once you start learning about the plants in your ecosystem, it’s like receiving a pair of special glasses or a new set of eyes. What once may have been a big green blur on the side of the local trail becomes a catalog of entities with all kinds of different powers and uses. What was once a pretty flower, or a weed in the garden, becomes a living ally that can help you participate in your own ecology.
In the same way, learning to see the world in a Liminal way gives one a similar superpower. Going on Liminal Walks in your neighborhood will introduce you to a new way of experiencing what once seemed mundane. You’ll also start finding answers to your questions in places that you’d once overlooked.
Today, exercise your intention and work on your plant awareness by learning about a local wild plant! It doesn’t matter where you live; head out on a short walk and find a plant that “speaks to you.” Now see if you can identify it. Is there any folklore surrounding the plant? How can it be used right now? How might it be a useful ally in different seasons?
Today is also an excellent day for planning for the future. Design next year’s garden, take stock of your seed bank (literal or metaphorical), figure out whether something in your life needs more fertilizer. Or, you could simply hug you favorite tree!
